Beginning Clawhammer Banjo

Time:      Sunday, June 24th. 2:30-3:30pm
Place:     The Mergatroid Building; 975 Vernon Drive in East Vancouver (upstairs)
Cost:       Workshop $30/adult; $15/youth (18 and under)

This class is for absolute beginners, as well as bluegrass banjo players interested in learning the clawhammer style. We will focus on the right hand technique that makes up this rhythmic and organic playing style. We’ll add simple chords and basic fingering to work our way up to a simple song or two, so you have something fun to practice at home!
Please bring your own 5-string banjo (if you’d like to borrow one, please contact me ahead of time to confirm that I have one available.)

Kidspace optional: $10/child (refreshments and activities for your child for the duration of your workshop).

Instructor: Paul, also known to kids up and down the westcoast as Professor Banjo, has been playing clawhammer banjo for audiences big and small for more than 15 years. He has taught banjo at Nimble Fingers, the Olympia Old Time Festival, and Dare to be Square West, and has taught ukulele to kids at St. James Music Academy.
