Call for Board Member - Financial.pdf

Lisa Stark (Chair)

Lisa is so excited to join The Learnary as a board member. She lives in East Vancouver and, as a community member, is also thrilled to have The Learnary here in the neighbourhood. Lisa's background is in alternative dispute resolution and has also worked in outreach education and as a community-based researcher in the Downtown Eastside. Lisa holds a master's degree in political science and loves learning new things, especially from people who are really enthusiastic about sharing their expertise.

Anne-Marie Whittaker (Secretary)

Anne-Marie is co-owner of Figaro's Garden in East Vancouver with her partner Hartley Rosen. She is the mother of three girls who keep her busy and sleepless, and who she loves very much. Anne-Marie has been an urban planner in the Lower Mainland for the last 15 years.

 Helen Hughes (Member at Large)

Helen founded Windsor House School, a public school experiment in non-coercive democratic education that's been running 50 years or so. She also raised three children and is the grandparent of four

Helen is an activist for social and environmental justice, an advocate for young people and a beloved community member.

After co-founding The Learnary, Helen is now joining the Board to help us grow...and to take all the classes she possibly can!

Cheryl Burdick (Member at Large)

cheryl-burdick-photo.jpgCheryl is an educator at Windsor House School. She works primarily with kids aged 8 to 12 and believes all children should be treated with respect and curiosity, as should all adults.

Cheryl attended almost all our early classes and has been a huge supporter since our very first day. She brings with her a deep sincerity and a passionate love of learning.

We are thrilled to welcome Cheryl to our Board.
