Donate to the learnary

Did you know that The Vancouver Learnary Society is a registered non-profit society? That means you can donate to us and bring so much more connection, creativity and curiosity into your community!

And even better – thanks to our generous supporters at the Transforming Education Society – we are now able to issue charitable tax receipts!

When you click to donate, you'll be sent to, a Canadian based charitable donations facilitator. They charge a small admin fee (because they do the admin work!) but the rest of it comes right to us, to support our curiosity events, low-cost and free workshops, and other community-based offerings. Thank you for supporting The Learnary!

Wish list

Since many of you have asked, we’re sharing our Wish List to let you know what kind of help would be most, well, helpful, right now. Of course, we are also open to offers of things we never thought to ask for ;-).

  • A Thing: Button Maker! We have big button plans...we just need the right tools.
  • Big Task: Help with finding and writing grants.
  • Board members: Treasurer, Youth Advisor, Grant Writer
  • Small Tasks: We have a list of small tasks in our volunteer area in the shop.  Come in anytime to lend a hand. Anything from sweeping to a variety of projects.
  • Ongoing: We are looking for a person to assist with online promotion of Learnary Events.  Commitment is 4- 6 hours every 2 months, and can be done from home.
  • Ongoing: a person to repair and maintain our typewriter collection.
  • Ongoing: a person to repair and maintain our sewing machine collection.
  • Donation: Leather belts for a cool project.
  • Donation: Craft Supplies: large good quality scissors, working glue guns
  • Donation: tissue paper in good quality for use for our gift wrapping service
  • Donation: we are looking for a rug we can use for the workshop space when we do sit-on-the-floor events.  Ideally round, about 6 feet across, comfortable, good condition, and can be rolled up when not in use.
  • Small to medium sized wheels and axles. For next year's zucchini race!
  • Tiling: Someone to help with tiling around our sink. We have all the supplies, but we need the time and skill part of things!

If you have something you’d like to donate, you can email us at to arrange pick up/delivery/carrier pigeon.

Search our website here. If you can't find what you're looking for, please email us at

The Learnary is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people. We are humbled by this history and grateful for our use of this land.

Our bathroom is approximately 57” x 60”.  To access, you need to pass through three doorways. The smallest has a width of 26”. The bathroom is non-gendered.

Our back door (private entrance) has five wooden steps.
