Calling all parents, educators & young people. Come join Helen Hughes for a cup of tea and a discussion about building respectful & collaborative relationships with children.
November Topic: "Don't Talk to me Like That" navigating conversations dripping with tone.
Helen Hughes is the president of Transforming Education Society (TES), founder of Windsor House Democratic School, a Vancouver hero of non-coercive education and self directed learning, she is also and instigator of The Learnary. She is a radical, compassionate educator with over 60 years experience. Her particular interest is collaboration and joy. She is full of curiosity, insight, and unexpected ideas, and she is a great person to spend some time with.
This is a great event for people involved with parenting, public schooling, unschooling, home learning, community education, or generally living and working with young people.
Children Welcome: They can take part in the discussion, engage with the activity at The Learnary curiosity table, and/ or bring a contained activity of their own.
The Learnary asks for a contribution of $5 - $25 per participant for these discussions. No one turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds go to supporting The Vancouver Learnary Society as an active community space. Childcare is not provided, however children for whom it works to hang out at The Learnary are very welcome.
