FAMILY ART CLASS: ALL AGES
This will be a 3 session class introducing both traditional and non-traditional drawing techniques (First session February 1st...next sessions to be confirmed). We encourage participants to do this as a series, however individual classes can occur if space permits. No experience is required, everybody with curiosity and who wants to step out of their boundaries welcome! All supplies provided.
THE ART: We will be exploring different styles of portraiture and figure drawing from realism to abstract. The first class will be an introduction to drawing the face and body with pencil and ink. Then we will have fun with some exercises to make you lose control and let a bit of randomness into your drawing. The last class we will play with different media (including different coloured ink and alternative materials such as food) and create some crazy, colourful drawings.
Not all the artworks you make in this will be "good" or what you expected, because that's not the point. The point is to have fun and surprise yourself with what you can create!
WHO: This is an intergenerational class that welcomes families to learn together. Lucy invites people of all ages and all levels to come out and create together. We would love to see youth, adults, and kids young and old.
ABOUT LUCY: I am a visual arts student at UBC. Before that I was a mainly self-taught artist. As a child I started drawing with oil pastels and later I worked with pencils and charcoals. Recently I have been using pens and nib and ink, as well as working with some painting medium. I specialize in portraiture and figures.
I grew up on Vancouver Island and I currently live in East Vancouver, just up the street from The Learnary! I love beaches and the outdoors. My perfect night in would be cuddled up with a good cup of tea and a book.
